Archaeology News.

Today I've found on a dvd-rw (remember those?) a vmware VM from 2007 w/ fbsd 6. It was a snapshot of my primary VM where I happily did all the work. It's astonishing that the disc w/ the vm is still readable. But what is even more astonishing are the vm properties:

- total size is 8GB, zipped under 4.7GB to fit on a dvd-rw disc (& it did fit).

- ram was set to 256MB; the value is so low, because in 2007 I had a   laptop w/ 1GB & vista on it. I think I had an upgrade to 3GB in the   end of that year. Nevertheless, 256MB & it was working jolly good!   Today if you set 2GB for a VM it'll be enough only to start a Chrome   w/ 1 open tab & devtools, tops.
