If you wish to visit the caverns of Kief, there are guides with lighted torches to show you the way. [...] There are dead bodies lying inside. [...] They have been preserved in a very curious way, so that they have not crumbled into dust like other dead bodies.
The Russians say, that all these dead men were very good, and they call them saints and worship them. [...] It is sad to see the crowds of people who come from all parts of Russia, to do honour to lumps of clay.
