Josh Berkus (PostgreSQL Core Team) про злой Майкрософт (via http://teachmetocode.com/podcast/interview-with-josh-berkus-part-2/):

'[in 1998] I discovered a data loss bug in MS SQL Server 7. One that people could trip across by accident & lose their data & not be aware that it was missing--you didn't get an error message or anything--the data just disappeared.

So I posted that at MSDN forums. I said I found that particular issue, that sort of thing, and bizarrely my post disappeared. Nobody contacted me from Microsoft, my post just vanished off the public forums.'

'Maybe they were storing it in MS SQL Server?'

'Right. Year, possibly. So then I posted it second time and I got a direct email from somebody at Microsoft that said "If you keep spreading this misinformation your MSDN (which I paid $2,000 year for) would be suspended without refund."

The bug was never fixed. It was corrected in MS SQL 2000 but was never fixed in MS SQL 7, which a lot of people continued to use for 10 years losing data.'
