GMS is killing my old phone.
I like this new world when you happily use your device & then one day, out of the blue, the 'update' comes down & kills your phone w/o your consent.
After the update I cannot run Google Play any longer nor any apps that depend on Google Play Services. The 'sync' icon is constantly on in the notification area; every minute in `/data/system/dropbox/` I get a new log file `SYSTEM_TOMBSTONE@\d+.txt.gz` that contains:
~~~
pid: 15812, tid: 15812 >>> com.google.android.gms <<<
signal 4 (SIGILL), code 1 (ILL_ILLOPC), fault addr 80e12b12
[...]
scr 60000012
#00 pc 00012b12 /data/data/com.google.android.gms/lib/libgmscore.so
#01 pc 00075682 /system/lib/libdvm.so
~~~
If you try to google "google play services disable auto update" you get a bunch of rubbish. All those "create a directory named `/data/app/com.google.android.gms-1.apk` to trick the installer" of course do nothing, for it quietly creates `/data/app/com.google.android.gms-N.apk` file & so on.
I rolled back to the prev working version (`adb install -r com.google.android.gms.apk`) & can't turn on the wifi now for it'll start updating GMS immediately.
