The current state of affairs (after listening to a dude from TC39):
- forget about async syntactic sugar till 2016;
- polyfills will never die: all new JS features are (will be) tested in polyfills before landing into browsers;
- forget about writing plain JS: a transcompilation step ES20XX->JS is now a requirement (duh!).
