Our Miss Brooks
'What would you do to protect your family & yourself in case of a sudden atom bomb attack? It may never happen, but it could. Remember, you can survive an atom bomb attack if you know what to do. Get a copy of the official air raid instructions from your local civil defense organization, or write to Superintendent of Documents, Washington, D.C., enclosing 5¢ in coin or stamps. Learn the instructions by heart & see that everyone in your family does, too. Be smart, be prepared.'

'CBS Radio has an important suggestion for you, a suggestion that more Americans take a personal part in the international struggle for peace & freedom. Perhaps you've never looked at service w/ Ground Observer Corps but that's exactly what it adds up to.
Today through out the world there is a struggle for the minds of great masses of human beings. Both sides have attempted to convince people everywhere to choose b/w 2 opposing ways of life. Since the end of WWII America has helped great & small nations to regain their stability & live in freedom. At the same time, using every means at its command, another major power has attempted to spread its influence.
Now at this moment in history when we have every reason to believe that the free world is winning the Cold War we must be more vigilant that ever. We must keep our powder dry, our eyes open. To tempt the would-be aggressor via apparent weakness would be potentially disastrous, so let's all make home defence our business. Drop into your local civilian defence office & volunteer your 2-hours a week with your local Ground Observer Corps.'
